“The beautiful and well proven silver gelatin print is expensive and painstaking to make. Today few photographers make their own prints. Fewer still work in silver gelatin. One of these few is Nan Phelps. Trained as an artist and then as a photographer, she is rigorous in her craft. There are no assistants working in her stead. What she captures she prints.

Perhaps in a generation or even sooner it will not be possible for any but the wealthiest to commission silver hand made prints. For now, Nan Phelps carries on the art and craft. ”
